In order to support all students and offer fair and equitable opportunities, A+ Charter Schools, Inc. (Home of A+ Academy and Inspired Vision Academy) supports educational services through supplemental grant applications submitted annually to the Texas Education Agency. The listings below are current grant applications submitted for supplemental funding to improve the academic achievement of all students.

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

 

Title I, Part A – Improving Basic Programs

A+ Academy - $867,423

Inspired Vision Academy - $745,501

The purpose of Title I, Part A is to provide supplemental funding to state and local educational agencies and charters to acquire additional education resources at schools serving high concentrations of students from low-income homes. These resources are used to provide all children with a significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, high-quality education to meet challenging state assessments. Note: 1% of the grant is reserved for Parent and Family Engagement.

Common uses of funds include additional staff, technology equipment, tutoring, instructional materials, parent and family engagement activities, professional development, and summer school activities.

Note: A Supplement Not Supplant Statement of Exemption in on file for both districts

 

Title II, Part A – Supporting Effective Instruction

A+ Academy - $89,287

Inspired Vision Academy - $72,445

The purpose of Title II, Part A is to increase student achievement consistent with the challenging State academic standards; improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders; increase the number of effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools; and provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders. The intent of the funding is to support educators in their work to improve the overall quality of instruction and ensure equity of educational opportunity for all students.

A+ Academy and Inspired Vision Academy utilize Title II funds for the following: supplemental professional services to provide coaching strategies to staff, professional development, and supports of data driven instruction, Mentor Program, and additional professional development to increase the number of highly qualified teachers, principals, assistant principals, and campus staff.

Title III, Part A – English Learners (ELs)

A+ Academy -$83,045

Inspired Vision Academy - $63,097

The purpose of Title III, Part A it to ensure that English learners (ELs) and immigrant students attain English proficiency and develop high levels of academic achievement in English. Title III will also assist all English learners meet the same challenging State academic standards that all children are expected to meet.

A+ Academy and Inspired Vision Academy utilizes Title III funds for the following: supplemental staff to provide instructional support, supplemental instructional materials and technology for the Bilingual/ESL program, staff development in the area of English Language Learners, parent and family engagement activities, and summer school activities and resources.

 

Title IV, Part A -Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grant Program

A+ Academy - $61,266

Inspired Vision Academy - $54,299

The purpose of Title IV, Part A is to provide all students with access to a well-rounded education, improve academic outcomes by maintaining safe and healthy students, and to improve the use of technology to advance student academic achievement.

Note: A+ Academy and Inspired Vision Academy have opted to transfer these funds to be utilized as Title I funds. Please see Title I above for common uses of funds. *Other state funds and grants are used to meet safety requirements.

Other Federal Grants

IDEA, Part B

A+ Academy - $312,856

Inspired Vision Academy - $208,085

The purpose of IDEA, Part B, is to support special education and early intervention services for children with disabilities.

A+ Academy and Inspired Vision Academy utilize funds for the following: staff, professional development, instructional resources, and professional consulting services to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities.

Perkins V: Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century (CTE)

A+ Academy - $25,506

Inspired Vision Academy - $20,670

The purpose of Perkins V is to ensure that secondary students enrolled in career and technical education programs can fully develop the academic knowledge, technical skills, and employability skills needed to enter the workforce and pursue continuing education in their chosen field.

A+ Academy and Inspired Vision Academy utilize funds for the following: career exploration and career development activities, professional development, resources to integrate academic skills into CTE programs of study, and resources to provide skills necessary to pursue careers in high-skill, high-wage, in-demand occupations.
