Mask and COVID-19 Prevention Protocols
Dear A+ Charter Schools Parents/Guardians:
After reviewing Governor Abbott's Executive Order, guidance from the Texas Education Agency, and guidance from the Dallas County Health and Human Services, A+ Charter Schools has determined that it is in the best interest of students, staff, and teachers to continue with our districtwide mask requirement. This means that there will be no change to the current mask and COVID-19 Prevention Protocols. We have included the TEA SY 20-21 Public Health Planning Guidance for your review. Starting school on August 12th, which is original approved calendar start date, will allow our students, parents, staff, and teachers to get accustomed to the school year, while we prepare our campuses for the eventual return to face to face instruction. Starting on time will also allow us to finish school in May as previously scheduled.
On September 8th, if allowed by DCHHS, Inspired Vision Academy will be offering TWO types of instructional delivery for the 2020-2021 school year; face to face/on campus instruction and remote/ online instruction. Parents will be allowed to choose their preference at the beginning of the year. A parent may choose to switch to a different instructional delivery method at the end of a grading period.
Face-to-Face/On Campus Instruction
Available to all students, PK - 12
Students will follow the traditional schedule, attending school 5 days per week.
Enhanced sanitation protocols on our campuses will be followed throughout the day.
Social distancing measures will be implemented wherever possible.
Masks or face shields will be required for students in grades 4-12, when required by executive order.
Remote/Online Instruction
Available to all students, PK - 12.
Learning opportunities will be asynchronous.
Asynchronous instruction is NOT real-time and may be accomplished through independent activities and self-directed participation. Students will utilize Google Classroom to obtain instruction and submit assignments.
Students will be expected to log in each day that school is in session, communicate with their teachers, and make adequate progress toward meeting their educational goals.
Remote Learners WILL be allowed to participate in extra-curricular activities.
Important Things to Note
Expectations for coursework and guidelines for grading for Face-to-Face Learning and Remote Learning will be the same.
Attendance requirements are the same for Face-to-Face Learning and Remote Learning. Students must attend at least 90% of the instructional days in the school calendar to be awarded credit and/or advanced to the next grade level.
Once a parent makes a choice for Remote Learning, they will be locked into that instructional delivery method until the end of the grading period.

Moments ago, Greg Abbott, the Texas Governor made a public announcement that all Texas schools are to remain closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. We will continue our At-Home learning and the “On the Go” serving of meals through the last day of the school year, May 22, 2020.
Our teachers and staff will continue to work throughout the end of the school year to provide our students with enriched learning opportunities. We want to thank our staff members for the unbelievable job they have done in adapting to this new style of educating students. We know that many of our teachers are heartbroken that they will not be able to see their students in person before the end of the school year.
A+ Charter Schools, Inc. would also like to express our gratitude to you – our parents and guardians – for the efforts that you have made to enhance the amazing partnership that has been formed over the past month. We know that at-home learning is completely different from what we are accustomed to, but you have risen to the challenge and we appreciate your collaboration as we work together to educate our students.
Finally, we need to recognize our students who have not been able to see their friends or teachers, and those who have missed their athletic competitions, fine arts performances and other events. Our hearts hurt for all of our students, but especially for our Senior Class of 2020. They have looked forward to certain milestones, like prom, awards night, and graduation for most of their academic career.
Since the news of this is so fresh, our district leadership will be meeting to further discuss our opportunities to honor our end of the year activities and traditions including graduation. Once we know more, we will share the information with you.

You hear it all the time during flu season: wash your hands to prevent the spread of flu. You may have heard advice encouraging you to do the same to stop the spread of COVID-19. But do you know why this simple practice works so effectively? Washing your hands with soap and water breaks up the molecules of the virus and washes them away, preventing the virus from infecting you or others.
To be able to effectively and reliably break up the virus cells, you must wash your hands thoroughly and vigorously for at least 20 seconds. Doing this can be incredibly effective! In fact, a study showed that when a group of elementary aged school children participated in supervised handwashing 2-4 times per day, the spread of a similar virus was reduced by 47%
While it is important to wash your hands, it is also important that we all regularly disinfect surfaces.
COVID-19 has been shown to live for up to three days on various surfaces. If you must leave your home for essential services, be sure to wash your hands as soon as you return and disinfect any surfaces you may have touched. If someone in your home is ill, it’s also important to regularly disinfect. Applying soap and water plus commonly used disinfectants to frequently touched surfaces will break up the virus and carry it away, in the same way soap kills and carries away the virus on your hands.

Online Learning begins Monday March 23, 2020! Students, please check your school Gmail accounts for more information and invites to all your Google Classrooms. Teachers will begin making assignments on Monday March 23. Your grades for the remainder of the grading period will be determined by the work you do in Google Classroom.
Students, if you need a Chromebook, you may request a device in the drive through meal line on Monday (3/23) or Tuesday (3/24). If the device issued to you is not working properly, you may exchange it in the drive through meal line on Monday or Tuesday.

A+ Charter Schools (all campuses, including Inspired Vision Academy Secondary) will be closed starting March 23 through, at least, April 10 to support our community and health care professionals in the ongoing goal of containing the spread of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. Additionally, all extracurricular activities, practices and athletic events are suspended while we are closed. We are hopeful that these measures will better ensure the long-term health and safety of children, staff, and the larger community.
A+ Charter Schools is finalizing logistics on distance learning options and the distribution of food to address children’s nutritional needs while school is out. Administration will share more information soon regarding this significant change to our learning model. We appreciate your patience in the coming weeks as we determine the best way to serve our students during this trying time.
We will also take this week to further clean schools and buses and restock custodial and nursing supplies.
