Parental Rights & Options
As a parent, you are the most important voice in your child’s education. Texas law recognizes that students do best when families are informed, involved, and respected. Parents are valued partners with teachers, administrators, and the A+ Charter Schools, Inc. Board of Trustees in supporting student learning across our district.
Parents have specific rights outlined in the Texas Education Code, including Chapter 26: Parental Rights and Responsibilities. The Parental Rights and Options Information form explains many of these rights, including the ability to refuse or remove a child from certain activities or instruction. It is not a complete list of all parental rights.

Rights Regarding Health-Related & Health-Care Services
A+ Charter Schools is committed to keeping parents and guardians informed about health-related and health-care services available to their children. In accordance with Texas law, families are provided information regarding these services and their rights to provide, withhold, or decline consent, as applicable.
Health-related services may include services such as first aid, health screenings, and other supports related to a student’s physical, mental, or emotional health and well-being. Parents and guardians have the right to withhold consent for or decline applicable health-related services.
Certain health-care services require active parental consent before they may be provided, except in emergency situations or as otherwise permitted by law. Parents and guardians retain the right to make medical and health-care decisions for their child.
Families should review and complete the A+ Charter Schools Annual Parent Consent Form for information regarding health-related and health-care services and applicable parental consent options.

Rights Regarding Instructional & Library Materials
Parents and guardians have the right to review instructional, curriculum, and library materials available to their child. A+ Charter Schools is committed to transparency and providing families with access to information about the materials used to support student learning.

Senate Bill 12, passed by the 89th Texas Legislature, requires school districts and charter schools to make instructional plans available for parents and families to access.

A+ Charter Schools uses ParentSquare to notify staff and parents of school closings, delays, or other schedule changes due to inclement weather. Parents are responsible for providing and maintaining up-to-date contact information to ensure they receive ParentSquare text messages and emails.
Information regarding weather-related school closings and delays will also be communicated through district and campus websites, the district’s social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram), and FOX 4.

Career and Technical Education
Annual Public Notification of Nondiscrimination
A+ Charter Schools, Inc. offers career and technical education programs in Architecture, Business, Marketing and Finance, Education and Training, Health Science, Law, Public Service, Manufacturing and Transportation, Distribution and Logistics. Admission to these programs is based on student selection.
It is the policy of A+ Charter Schools, Inc. not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex or handicap in its vocational programs, services or activities and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.
